AYODHYA is a leading home decorative brand from Thailand, offering unique designs of handicraft made from natural fibers, with water hyacinth as our signature material.

Founded in 1994, M.L. Pawinee (Sukhasvasti) Santisiri was then a leader in the stylistic side of a rural development research project. With the attempt to find an innovative way to get rid of an excessive amount of water hyacinth clogging the country’s waterways, she brought with her the passion to turn the natural fiber into contemporary crafts. Since then, AYODHYA has pioneered the use of water hyacinth into many innovative designs, such as vases, trays, frames, baskets, lamps, rugs and cushions. Finally in 1998, the products were introduced internationally.

Not only has AYODHYA produced unique handicrafts, but we also provide supplementary income directly to Thai villagers. Most of AYODHYA’s natural fibers design materials are sourced from the network of local craftspeople.  Especially with water hyacinth products, each item contributes to the improvement of Thailand’s river environment and provides a better living to the Thai community.

Today, AYODHYA products stand out for creativity, fine craftsmanship, and unique pioneering techniques. We offer our new collection every year. The main materials, such as water hyacinth, hemp, cotton rope, and jute, are still localised and eco-friendly. Moreover, to push the design boundary in order to achieve a unique and contemporary touch, we often blend our natural materials with other reusable, recyclable and synthetic components such as wood and polypropylene (PP).
